  • UPPSC Prelims Exam has 02 (two) papers.
  • Total marks in the exam are 400.
  • The test period is 4 hours.
  • Paper-II of the Preliminary Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
  • Negative Marks (0.33) assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty for wrong answer.
  • Overall qualifying marks for S.C. & S.T. candidates is 35% while it is 40% for other categories.
  • The merit of the Candidates will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-I of the Preliminary Examination.

UPPSC Upper Subordinate Services / PCS Mains Syllabus

The UPPSC PCS Mains Exam comprises of eight papers. The marks secured in the UP PCS Main exam are the deciding factor in the final selection. There are six General Studies Paper in the mains selection process. The question papers shall be in English in Roman Script and Hindi in Devanagari Script. The standard of knowledge required of candidates in compulsory papers will be such as a young man holding a Bachelor’s Degree of a University is expected. There will be three sections in the question paper of Essay. Candidates will have to select one topic from each section and they are required to write essay in 700 words on each topic. In the three sections, topics of essay will be based on following sphere :
