OTET Notification 2024 Details
Board of Secondary Education, Odisha has made the official announcement of conducting the OTET 2024. In this regard, an official OTET 2024 Notification is released. Thus, this came as great relief for the aspirants seeking school teacher jobs in Odisha. Possessing the required eligibility conditions, the interested candidates can submit the OTET 2024 application form within the closing date of 5th July 2024.
The OTET is primarily organised by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha to assess the eligibility of candidates for primary and upper primary school teachers. A candidate who scores 60% or more in the OTET Examination will be considered as OTET qualified. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, SEBC/ OBC, Physically Handicapped securing scores of at least 50% may be considered as TET qualified. Aspirants at the same time must know that the OTET score will be given due weightage in the recruitment process and the OTET Score shall be valid for a period of 7 (seven) years.
Odisha TET Eligibility Criteria
The Odisha TET or OTET is a mandatory eligibility criteria to become a school teacher in Odisha. The test is conducted for Primary Level and Upper Primary level School teachers. This test has been classified in to two papers – Paper 1 for Class I to V teachers, and Paper 2 for Class VI to VIII teachers. The Odisha TET Eligibility Criteria is as follows –
Eligibility Criteria for OTET Paper 1 (Class I to V)
- Higher Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (CT or D.El.Ed.). OR,
- Higher Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002. OR,
- Higher Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). OR,
- Higher Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR,
- Graduation and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR,
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), on the condition who has acquired the qualification of Bachelor of Education from any NCTE Recognised Institution, shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as a primary teacher.
Eligibility Criteria for OTET Paper 2 (Class VI to VIII)
- Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR,
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.). OR,
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR,
- Higher Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). OR,
- Higher Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./ B.Sc, Ed or B.A. Ed./ B.Sc. Ed. OR,
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
Provided that relaxation of 5% minimum qualifying marks in Higher Secondary or graduation level, as the case may be, shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC, ST, SEBC & PWD category.
OTET 2024 Exam Pattern
Odisha TET Exam Pattern is available below. With the announcement on OTET 2024 Notification, a large number of the school teacher aspirants shall submit the application. So for them, this OTET 2024 exam patter n will be highly informative. Important highlights of OTET Notification 2024 is as under –
- There shall be two papers of the OTET viz- Paper-I and Paper-II.
- The total duration of the test in each paper shall be 2½ hours.
- All questions will be MCQs, each carrying one mark with four alternatives out of which one answer is correct.
- The question papers in non-language subjects shall be bilingual i.e. in Odia and English.
- Following languages shall be offered in Language – I :- Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu, Bengali. The candidate has to choose any one of the above languages for Language-I subject.
- Language-II subject shall be English for all candidates.
- There shall be no negative marking.
