WB Primary Teacher Recruitment Eligibility Conditions

Minimum Education Qualification
The candidate must have passed :
- Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) OR Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR Graduation and Two Year Diploma in Elementary Education AND
- Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) (conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education adhering to the rules and principles set by NCTE)
Note: Candidates belonging to reserved categories viz, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC-A and OBC-B), Exempted Categories (EC), Ex-Servicemen and Person with Disabilities (PwD), shall be allowed to get relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks as per Note 6 of Rule 6 in West Bengal Primary School Teachers Recruitment Rules, 2016 (amended up to date).
Age Limit Criteria
- The age of the candidates should be within 18 to 40 Years as on 01.01.2025. The Age Relaxation is Applicable as per WB State Govt Rules in force.

WB Primary Teacher Recruitment 2025 Selection Process
The West Bengal Board of Primary Education has already specified the selection process of Primary Teacher in West Bengal. The Board as per the notification does not conduct any written examination for shortlisting the candidates for the Assistant Teacher in Primary Schools. Actually, after the application period, the board scrutinizes the application of the candidates. Thereafter, candidates with the valid TET Score and fulfilling eligibility criteria shall be called for Interview by WBBPE.
Post the Interview Round of Selection Process, the DLSC prepares the merit list of the candidates according to the merit of the candidate on the following parameters.
