Indian Railway Commercial Apprentice Recruitment Rules
Railway Recruitment Board conducts the recruitment of Commercial Apprentice through RRB NTPC Recruitment. The post is Graduate category post and the interested candidates need to have completed Graduation in any stream to apply for CA Vacancy in Indian Railways. Apart from this the age limit is from 18 to 32 years, while the upper age limit is applicable as per GOI regulations.

Training as Commercial Apprentice in Indian Railways
On being selected as Commercial Apprentice in Indian Railways, the candidate is allotted Railway Zones. With the joining as CA in Indian Railways, the training Period of CA starts. The training of field plus office shall continue for approximately 2 years. This may vary and shall be intimated in the offer of appointment letter.
After completion of training period, the Railway Zone appoints the candidate as Commercial inspector /Commercial supervisor (Booking Supervisor/ Parcel Supervisor/ Goods Supervisor) in any station or Divisional Headquarters within the Division allotted to the candidate.
Salary of Commercial Apprentice in Indian Railways
During the training period, the candidate will get a stipend of Rs.29,200/- (7th CPC) plus DA for 1st year and Rs. 30,100/- plus DA during second year of training. After joining as Commercial inspector /Commercial supervisor, the candidate will draw monthly salary in Level 6 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix Starting with a Basic Pay of Rs. 35400/-. The Gross salary of the CA at the current rate of DA & allowances is as under –

Promotion Opportunities of Commercial Apprentice
Indian Railway Commercial Apprentice after completion of 5 years of service (including training), will be eligible to write the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion to Assistant Commercial Manager. It is to note that Assistant Commercial Manager in Indian Railways is a Gazetted post carrying Rs 4800/- G.P in the scale of Rs 9300/- to Rs 34800/-.
The next post of promotion will be Divisional Commercial Manager (or equivalent), followed by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager or Equivalent which is generally a Group A post in Indian Railway Traffic Service cadre. Thus, Commercial Apprentice in Indian Railways can go up to the level of IRTS cadre of Indian Railways which very few post in IR can reach up to.
