WBJEE Ranking Methodology and Merit List Process
WBJEEB will prepare WBJEE Merit Ranks based on the candidates score in the entrance test. The individual candidates will be able to view and download his/her Rank Card, which will contain score and rank. WBJEEB does not publish any rank/score list for the exam participants. Based on the papers (subjects) appeared in the WBJEE 2021 followed by marks scored, WBJEEB prepares two separate Merit Ranks as under –

West Bengal JEE General Merit Rank (GMR) Details
West Bemgal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) will prepare a list called General Merit Rank (GMR) based on the total score obtained in Paper-I and Paper-II taken together. While preparing the GMR, the WBJEEB ranks the candidates in the descending order of total marks scored in all the subjects. However, the board will indicate separate reserved category merit position for respective category of students e.g., SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PwD Rank, TFW Rank. The important points regarding WBJEE General Merit Rank (GMR) are as under –
- Admission to all Engineering / Technology / Architecture Courses and to the Pharmacy Course in Jadavpur University shall on the basis of GMR only.
- Sequencing order for counselling/ allotment of seat/ admission will be based on GMR only (not on category ranks). .

WBJEE Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR)
WBJEEB in addition to the GMR shall also publish a list known as Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). This WBJEE Merit List 2025 shall be prepared based on the score in paper-II only, i.e., Physics and Chemistry. Similar to GMR, the ranking shall be in the descending order of marks scored in paper-II. Likewise, the separate reserved category merit position will also be indicated for respective category of students e.g., SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PwD Rank, TFW Rank. The Important points with regard to WBJEE Pharmacy Merit Rank is as under –
- Admission to all Pharmacy Courses except in Jadavpur University shall be done based on PMR only.
- Sequencing for allotment of seat will be based on PMR only (not on category ranks).
WBJEE Merit List 2025 Tie–Breaking Methodology
Now, while the WBJEEB prepares the General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR), there may be a tie between two or more candidates on the score of the test. Thus, the Board shall adopt the following tie breaking rules in the following sequence to resolve the issue and determine the merit.
Tie Breaking Rules for General Merit List (GMR)
- Less negative marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry taken together.
- More positive marks in Mathematics and Physics taken together.
- More positive marks in Mathematics and Chemistry taken together.
- Less negative marks in Mathematics and Physics taken together.
- Less negative marks in Mathematics and Chemistry taken together.
- More positive marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
- More positive marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions
- More positive marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
- Less negative marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
- Less negative marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions.
Tie breaking Rules for PMR.
- Less negative marks in Physics & Chemistry
- More positive marks in Chemistry
- Less negative marks in Chemistry
- More positive marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions

Final Tie-breaking rule for GMR and PMR
After application of the above Tie-breaking Rules as applicable if the tie still exists, then the same will be broken by the date of birth (DOB) of the candidates, with the older candidate having preference over the younger one.

WBJEE 2025 Counselling
The West Bengal JEE Counselling start after the publication of merit list. While releasing the WBJEE Results, the Board will let the candidates know their rank in the merit list. Thereafter, on the scheduled date, WBJEEB will call the candidates according to the ranks order to participate in the WBJEE Counselling. Now, in the West Bengal JEE Counselling, the candidates will be able to participate in online seat allotment process.
Actually, WBJEE Counselling 2025 is a centralized computer-based choice filling and seat allotment process for B. Tech and B. Pharma and B.Arch. courses. The necessary steps in connection to WBJEE Counselling 2021 are as follows –

- Payment of Registration Fees.

WBJEE Seat Allotment 2025
Post every round of WBJEE Counselling, the Board will release the seat allotment list. Candidates will be able to check their allotment status after logging in using their credentials. After the completion of each round of WBJEE Seat Allotment, candidates should report for document verification and fee payment for provisional admission. In the seat allotment stage, the candidate can accept the allotment or forgo for a possible up-gradation to their higher choices.
