West Bengal has about 17 universities, 461 colleges and 7217 courses. Thus, it is obviously confusing for the students to select the right college, course and universities. Thus, to facilitate this issue and to make the entire undergraduate courses a simple process, the WBCAP is launched by the West Bengal State Council of Higher Education.
West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal 2025
The West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal 2025 shall provide a single gateway for admission to UG courses / programmes offered by more than 450+ Govt. and Govt. aided colleges across the state of West Bengal. The WBCAP provides the opportunity for the 10+2 passed out students to select from more than 7000+ options. No candidates need to visit different websites of different colleges for selecting the right college and right course. One can identify his/her preferred institute and course on a single click, check eligibility and apply. However, the candidates need to be very careful in submitting the order of preference for a given institute / course.
WBCAP 2025 exempted Colleges & Minority Institutes
The West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal or WBCAP shall not be applicable for UG Course Admission to minority and autonomous colleges. These colleges shall continue start the admission process on their own. These exempted colleges are as under –

WBCAP 2025 Online Registration Process
The registration at WBCAP 2025 is the first stage which every interested student must complete. Candidate must complete the registration following the steps as discussed above. Interested candidates can follow the steps below to complete the registration at WBCAP.
- Initially, visit the WBCAP 2025 Official website at wbcap.in
- The homepage of the portal opens on the screen.
- Now, the first stage is the Registration.
- Candidates should click on “Register Now”.
- A new window will open on the screen.
- Now, the candidates should enter the personal details and submit the data.
- Thus, the registration is complete now.
- By now the candidates will get Login ID and password at the registered email entered and through SMS at the registered mobile number.
- Next, the applicant should login to apply for UG Admission.
- On the dashboard of WBCAP (West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal), the candidates need to select the University > College > Course.
- At this stage the candidate can select multiple universities, colleges and courses.
- Candidates now should select the preference carefully.
- Candidates can now upload photo and signature in the my profile section.
- In the next phase, the applicant should recheck the entered information.
- Rechecking the details, applicant should submit the application to complete it.
- Finally, every applicant should take a print of the WBCAP 2024 Application Form for record.
WBCAP 2025 College Admission Preference List importance
Dear students, by now you know that during the application process, you need to submit your preference of courses and colleges. Thus, check your preference list carefully in WBCAP, as you can change your preference order before the closure of application window. Post that period, you cannot change anything. Actually, preference 1(one) means your highest preference. So be careful, if you are allotted a seat and don’t take admission within the admission period, you will not be allowed to take admission further in that seat.
However, Auto upgradation is allowed which means if you are allotted a seat say with preference 4 and taken admission, on next admission list publication, if you are allotted a seat for your preference 3 you will be allowed to take admission in that seat against payment of the additional amount only. In case you have paid more earlier, the additional amount will be refunded at the end of the admission process after full reconciliation.
