In this regard, the Government of West Bengal, Higher Education Department has implemented a Centralized Admission System for Colleges from the academic session 2024-25 onwards.
Therefore, the West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) can be termed as a single window for admission to UG Courses/Programmes across the colleges of the state of West Bengal. This step-by-step guidance to the students who will apply through this portal in the Undergraduate Courses in colleges of the State of West Bengal is thus discussed in the following section.
Prerequisites for Admission through Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP)
Now before the interested candidates proceed to apply for registration at the WBCAP Portal, here are some of the pre-requisites that must be ready in order to complete the application form easily.
- Scanned Photograph image in PNG/JPG/JPEG of less than 2 MB.

The WBCAP entire admission process has been divided into various steps. Stage 2: WB College Admission 2026 (WBCAP) Registration & Login
Now that we have an overview of the courses, institutes, seats and merit list criteria therefore the Registration at WBCAP Portal is the next stage. To complete the West Bengal College Admission 2026 (WBCAP) Registration & Login the following steps may be followed –
- At first Go to the top of the home page of WBCAP @ wbcap.in
- Next click on the ‘Register Now’ button.
- Now enter the Mobile Number and Email ID and click on “continue to next step”.
- Enter the Personal details.
- Create User ID and password.
- Enter Mobile Number and validate it with the OTP received.
- Next enter year of passing, Board name, Registration Number.
- Upload 10+2 Registration certificate.
- Rechecking the details, click on “Complete Registration”.
- A confirmation Message will appear on the screen.
- To login the candidates should click on Login option on the home page.
- Next enter the created User ID and Password or Login using OTP.

Stage 3: West Bengal Centralised Admission Profile Creation
This stage is basically the updation of the information of the candidates information which includes photograph, signature, educational, communication address, guardian details, ID proof, age proof, caste etc. Candidates before setting the preference of courses has to mandatorily complete the profile creation stage. The Steps which is involved in this stage are as under –
- Login to the WBCAP Portal using User ID and Password or through OTP.
- Click the important message section.
- An intimation to complete the profile will be there.
- Click on Update Profile option.
- A webpage with the required information will open on the screen.
- Candidates should now upload the Photograph, signature
- Next they should enter the Personal details one by one and Click on ‘Save & Continue’ button to proceed to address details page.
- Enter the Permanent and Communication Address and click on Save & Continue.
- Next fill up the Additional Details of Father, Mother, Guardian, Annual Income, and select the Language Known option.
- Check the details and click on Save & Continue.
- Next enter 10th Standard Result details carefully click on Save & Continue.
- Enter 10+2 Standard Result details carefully click on Save & Continue.
- Next the Documents tab will open.
- Candidates should upload and preview the documents one by one and proceed to the next tab.
- The next tab is Preview.
- In this page, candidates have to Click on the Check box for confirmation that the information filled up is correct.
- Finally acknowledge the conditions by clicking on “I acknowledge” and ” Confirm” button thereafter.
- The profile creation is complete.
- However, for editing your profile, you have to click on the “Edit” button on the profile page.
- Candidates should save the changes if required for the updation of the same in the profile.
Stage 4: Add Programme / College to Preference
This is the stage where the registered students can set the preference of the courses / colleges through WBCAP Portal. Candidates can follow the steps shared in this stage to complete the preference submission. –
- Login to the WBCAP Portal.
- Once logged in search for the Colleges / HEI.
- The list of HEI will be available with the details of courses, seat, eligibility and merit list criteria.
- Candidates can explore the colleges as per the preferences.
- Now in order to submit the preference, the students need to click on ” Check eligibility” button available for every colleges / HEIs.
- After checking your eligibility, you may apply for a given Course/ Programme and add it to your list of preference
- A box will appear for the courses offered by the college / HEI, you are eligible for.
- Then select the course /Programme and click on “Proceed” button.
- Set your preference of Courses/ Programmes in order of your choice from 1 to 10.
- A confirmation message will appear.
- The same process should be followed using the ” Add Course / College” button available in the dashboard.
