This Examination will be the first of the exam in the selection process. Tier 1 Exam will have Objective type MCQs, divided into 5 parts containing questions of 1 marks each. While there will be negative marking of the ¼ mark for each wrong answer. Minimum cut-off marks (out of 100) in Tier-1 exam are as under –

- OBC Candidates -28 marks &
- SC/ST Candidates – 25 marks
The Tier 1 Written Exam will be a Written Exam of Objective type MCQs, divided into 4 parts containing questions of 1 marks. Total Marks of the Tier 1 Exam will be 100 marks. Questions in this Exam will be descriptive in nature. Candidates should obtain a minimum of 20/50 marks to be considered for inclusion in the final merit list. The Intelligence Bureau SA Tier 2 Written Exam will be a descriptive type examination. It will be a qualifying exam, however, the candidates’ performance shall be given due weightage in the final merit list.
